TripAdvisor designated Niagara-on-the-Lake as Canadas #1 Food & Wine Destination in 2011. This year the Wineries have added extra days of touring and a special designated driver touring pass to the Wine & Herb touring program. It takes place every weekend in May 2012. Each of the 28 Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries will feature an herb-inspired VQA wine and food pairing.
The event now include Fridays, in addition to Saturdays and Sundays. 11 am to 5 pm on May 4/5/6, 11/12/13, 18/19/20 and 25/26/27.
The launch of the designated driver touring pass is a reflection of the Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lakes commitment to encouraging visitors to tour and taste responsibly. Designated driver passes are $30 per person (plus applicable taxes, limit one per purchase) and entitle the holder to a food pairing and non-alcoholic beverage at each of the member wineries.
Tickets are now available online at here . There is a special advanced price of $38 per person (plus tax) until April 15, 2012. After April 15, touring passes will be $43 per person. Pass holders are entitled to one wine and food pairing at each of the group wineries on event weekends.
Mori Gardens is supplying the herbs on display at each winery.
